We are currently recruiting for an evening shift Registered Nurse for Whitaker PRTF. This position provides psychiatric-mental health nursing care. Care includes, but is not limited to, the diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual and potential mental and medical problems. Nursing also assumes the responsibility for planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for the 18 residents residing at the Whitaker PRTF. Duties include monitoring residents for physical and psychological status, administering medication and evaluation of effectiveness, monitors and documentation of seclusions and restraints, and provides ongoing resident education regarding health, self-care, socialization skills, and medication utilization.
This position represents nursing on the treatment team providing input from other nurses to the treatment team members, and by relaying treatment team decisions and rationales for treatment to nursing.
Evening shift Registered Nurses will receive an additional 20% shift differential on their hourly pay.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package. The normal work hours are Monday -Thursday, 1:00pm-11:30pm; however, flexibility is required to meet facility needs. This position is deemed mandatory during adverse weather events, which will be discussed in detail during the interview process.

Whitaker PRFT is an 18 bed secure residential treatment facility that provides 24 hour nursing care operated by DHHS/SAS. It provides residential care, supervision and educational services for residents with complex behavioral, emotional, psychological and neurological disorders. It also provides community liaison support services for residents and families with a staffing complement of approximately 70 full-time clinical, educational, residential and support positions. Our location is ideal with four seasons, mild temperatures and provides an easy commute to the N.C. mountains or beaches. - Must be able to pass/maintain credentials for Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), Advanced Physical Training (APT) and CPR.

ADA physical requirements will be discussed in detail but, at a minimum,must be able to lift 50 pounds in order to perform resident care.
Management prefers psychiatric nursing experience with children/adolescents. Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." **Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
