Broughton Hospital is currently recruiting Registered Nurses for all shifts to work with our specialized adolescent and geriatric populations. The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional nursing care to assigned individuals and professional nursing supervision to LPN's and unlicensed assistive personnel. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing actions and assures coordination of care to assigned caseload. The RN acts as team leader when assigned with responsibility for daily operational routines and provides clinical care and consultation as necessary or assigned, including but not limited to: medication/treatment administration, care planning/implementation, collaboration with multidisciplinary team of physicians and other professionals/support staff to ensure the provision of care.
The normal work schedule is a 36-hour/48-hour rotation schedule over a two-week period with alternating weekends and holidays. As always, flexibility is required for training and education purposes and to meet hospital needs.

Please note: Selected applicants will be required to work Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week for the duration of new employee orientation and training.

- Client/Customer Service: Ability to work as a team player with multi-disciplinary healthcare staff.
- Coaching/Mentoring: Ability to provide support and assistance to peers/co-workers.
- Communication: Ability to use interview techniques that assist the patient in describing his/her symptoms and assist in discerning the situation, using an organizational approach.
Management prefers candidates with the following:
- Psychiatric nursing experience
- American Sign Language (ASL) experience

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
- A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
- The employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
- The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
- Or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

Broughton Hospital is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness.
