The Licensed Practical Nurse assists the Registered Nurse and Medical Team in meeting each individual resident's practicable level of independence and function through medical and psychosocial intervention, administering medication and evaluating the patient's response to care. The position will take part in the interdisciplinary team process and provide guidance to Health Care Technicians (Nurse Aide I's) during day to day activities of daily living. Position will provide quality nursing services in the care and treatment of residents, under nursing supervision. Employees participate in nursing assessments, medication administration, assist with the personal care of residents, take routine vital signs, monitor intake and output, collect specimens, change dressings, deliver routine respiratory therapy and other treatments, catheter and colostomy care, stock and order supplies, admit and discharge residents, assist the Physicians as needed, complete required monthly reports, attend core/care planning meetings, in-service staff as needed, communicate with other disciplines on campus and the community as it relates to health care needs, and may delegate specific nursing care tasks to other LPNs and CNAs (as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing). The LPN works with the RN in planning, implementing, and evaluating resident care. The LPN assists the residents in obtaining an optimal level of independence. They assist in maintaining the work/clinical area, paying special attention to safety and infection control standards.
8 Hour Shifts (Shift Premiums):
Day - Sat/Sun 10%
Evening - Mon-Fri 20% Sat/Sun 30%
Night - Mon-Thurs 20% Fri/Sat/Sun 30%
12 Hour Shifts:
7am-7:30pm (no premiums)
7:00pm-7:30am (eligible for evening shift premium rates)

*CPR and CPI required upon employment and must be recertified annually

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
