Registered Nurse - Oncology (Travel Nurse)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Oncology to join our team for a 13-week travel contract. The ideal candidate will provide clinical support to the oncology service line, ensuring exceptional care for patients undergoing cancer treatments. Compensation:

Hourly Rate: $65/hour
Start Date: 010/30/2024

Key Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including obtaining vital signs and reviewing lab results.
Verify treatment orders and medications, collaborating with other RNs or pharmacy staff.
Monitor and manage infusion-related reactions, addressing any side effects while educating patients on self-care during treatment.
Provide patient-specific education, including regimen treatment plans and schedules.
Work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient needs are addressed, and any concerns are communicated to the provider.
Review treatment history and recent provider notes to confirm appropriate regimens and labs are in place before treatment.

Schedule:

Shift: Day shifts, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift.

Required Experience:

Education: Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
Licensure: Valid NYS Registered Nurse license.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience, with a focus on med-surg nursing.
Certifications: Must be proficient in administering chemotherapy and managing oncology patients.

Preferred Skills:

IV Start Competence: Experience in starting IVs and accessing IVADs.
Experience in outpatient clinic settings is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., using a computer keyboard).
May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including equipment, and stooping or kneeling for various tasks.
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time (4-8 hours).
Must be able to physically operate equipment required for the role.
