Registered Nurse (RN), Day Shift ,Same Day Surgery Center
UC Health is hiring a Part-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the same day surgery center for the 9a-7:30p shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
All outpatients and inpatients going to the OR at UCMC come through Same-day Surgery apart from ICU. Patients are prepped for surgery by addressing history, medications, and safety through questions asked by the RN. An IV is placed here, baseline vital signs and any other surgical prep needed. Anesthesia will also place blocks and A-lines here when applicable. This is the last stop prior to the OR; Consent and H&P are also verified for the last time where site-marking also occurs before the patient is taken back to the OR.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Associate degree, minimum required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Current OH RN License
- BLS, minimum required
- ACLS, preferred
- 2 years SDS, PACU, or ICU experience, preferred

The Registered Nurse (RN) is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing. The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age-specific.
- Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
- Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
- Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
- Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
- Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
- Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
