The Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health (TCBH) is recruiting for a DON to join our leadership team in serving those that seek our services now while planning and implementing for the future. Construction has begun in downtown Tulsa for a new 140,000 square foot facility that will have 106 beds doubling the number of beds in the current facility. Even our name is getting an update to Oklahoma Psychiatric Care Center.
TCBH is a facility of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). We serve individuals eighteen years of age or older who present in a mental health crisis with or without substance abuse and are medically stable. Our goal is to provide our consumers with a supportive, safe and welcoming environment in which an array of integrated therapeutic interventions promotes an improved quality of life for consumers and the community.

About the Position: The Director of Nursing administers the nursing program at TCBH to maintain accreditation standards of patient care; Advises in matters related to nursing services; Establishes goals and objectives of the nursing program, coordinating the activities of the nursing department with other facility activities; Establishes and monitor Quality Assurance nursing standards, policies and procedures; Develops the organizational structure of all nursing service and standards of performance; Assists in preparation of departmental budget; Recommends and approves the selection, transfer, promotion, discipline and other transactions related to personnel in conjunction with appropriate personnel; Reviews reports and institutes appropriate action as needed, conducts staff meetings, directs orientations and in-service training for nursing staff, initiates studies to evaluate effectiveness of nursing services in relation to its objectives and cost.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Possession of a valid permanent OK Registered Nurse license as approved by the OK State Board of Nursing; a Master’s in Business or Public Administration, a Mental Health or Health related field, or a Nursing related field; three (3) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse performing professional psychiatric nursing; and three (3) years’ experience in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity; OR possession of a valid permanent OK Registered Nurse license as approved by the OK State Board of Nursing; a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, a Mental Health or Health related field, or a Nursing related field; four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse performing professional psychiatric nursing; and three (3) years’ experience in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity; OR possession of a valid permanent OK Registered Nurse license as approved by the OK State Board of Nursing; six (6) years’ experience as a registered nurse performing professional psychiatric nursing; and three (3) years’ experience in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity
Special Requirements:
- Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.
