Primary Purpose
Provides daily support for nursing operations to include research and development, integration of system-wide initiatives, collaboration with multiple nursing departments for the development and delivery of content for materials such as training materials, policies and procedures, etc., and identification of gaps in nursing performance to ensure the standardization and Best Practices for Parklands nursing services.
Minimum Specifications
Education
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Must have a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) or must complete BSN within three years of hire/placement in role.
- Prefer a Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Experience
- Must have five years of project and/or nursing experience, managing increasingly complex projects in a nursing department.
- Information Technology or Nursing Informatics experience preferred.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
- May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
- 60591 - Psychiatric Services Administration - 62290 - Emergency Services Admin - 60160 - Medicine Services Administration - 61300 - Clinical Edu & Academic Partnership - 62640 - PCAPP & Nursing Research - 60150 - Surgical Services Administration

- Must have a strong understanding of operations and hospital initiatives. Knowledge of budget, charges, supplies, and equipment and works with department leaders to ensure operations are performed in a fiscally conservative manner.
- Must be able to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team structure
- Must have a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. May be required to work a variety of shifts to assist with staff education, audits, and launching new initiatives.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and manager multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be able to establish effective, respectful and collegial working relationships with all internal and external customers, including but not limited to physicians and employees.
Responsibilities
1. Reviews and analyzes nursing literature and recommends nursing best practice to unit/department leadership for practice optimization.
2. Reviews and updates nursing policy and procedure based on current literature and professional standards within the established framework.
3. Retrieves, analyzes, collates and trends data from multiple sources for ongoing monitoring at the unit/department level. Develops reports, graphs, and presentations to distribute the data.
4. Collaborates with Clinical Education and Nursing Leadership in identification of education needs, implementation of new initiatives and development/delivery of education content as needed for the improvement of nursing operation.
5. Collaborates with Performance Improvement, and other departments as necessary, to ensure unit/department integration with system-wide initiatives.
6. Collaborates with Information Technology to identify and optimize EPIC nursing documentation.
7. Collaborates with other support departments to identify gaps in nursing performance and development of education and/or monitoring plans for correction/improvement of nursing practice.
8. Performs project planning and roll out of division and house-wide initiatives as participant & lead
9. Serves as liaison between many areas and nursing departments with working knowledge of Safety & Risk, Quality Infection Control, Nursing Informatics/IT, Clinical Engineering, HIM
10. Collaborates and assists with evidenced-based practice research as directed
11. Serves as a subject matter expert during accreditation and credentialing surveys (ie Joint Commission, CMS, Stroke Certification).
12. Responsible for documenting and tracking improvements in cross-functional team settings in order to enhance productivity, quality and customer satisfaction
13. Responsible for support of assigned areas and participation in departmental Performance improvement committees to track and trend quality and performance improvement projects, goals and objectives.
14. Collaborates with assigned leaders to establish projects, metrics, dashboards, while collecting, organizing and monitoring departmental quality, operation and service line performance data
15. Promotes cross-departmental communication, collaboration, and performance improvement as a means to improve patient care and outcomes.
