The Travel Nurse at RHA provides holistic nursing care positively impacting the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Travel Nurse is responsible for healthcare oversight and monitoring at various residential homes, vocational centers, or behavioral health centers. The role involves performing a range of nursing functions, providing direct care, and ensuring compliance with medical and healthcare standards at multiple locations. This position requires flexibility to cover shifts and travel as needed, with travel expenses provided.
Looking for RNs and LPNs to join our travel float nurse pool. Covering Charlotte, NC, Greensboro, NC, High Point, NC, and Statesville, NC.
Flexible schedules, part-time, full-time, and as-needed basis.
Overview:
- Travel Float Nurse positions are temporary. Hours are not guaranteed but are based on the needs of the units and/or assigned locations.
- Flexible schedules, part-time, full-time, and as-needed basis.
- Nurses will cover shifts and schedules as needed at the units in their assigned locations. Travel expenses will be covered as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Must meet education, experience, and licensure/certification requirements as specified by the service being provided.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience, ideally in a setting serving individuals with disabilities.
- Current, unrestricted RN or LPN license in the assigned state or have a compact nursing license.
- Ability to communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, individuals supported, and their families.
- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and prioritize tasks.
- Current CPR certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Maintain licensure, certifications, and complete all required annual competent
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals with IDD, focusing on holistic health approaches.
- Observe, assess, and evaluate the health needs of the individuals supported.
- Coordinate preventative and routine medical care, and communicate with physicians, pharmacies, and medical suppliers as needed.
- Document all nursing care provided in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Provide clinical oversight and supervision to unlicensed personnel.
- Assist in educational and training programs as needed for unlicensed personnel.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to safety and environmental best practices.
- Assist physicians during on-site medical clinics when applicable.
- Conduct medication pass observations and complete skill competency checklists on healthcare tasks delegated to unlicensed personnel.
- Support individuals in monitoring their own health and, where possible, train them in self-medication administration.
- Perform audits on medication administration and conduct medication storage assessments.
- Conduct routine nursing assessments and report any abnormal findings to the appropriate healthcare providers.
- Perform quality assurance checks to ensure that health-related tasks assigned to unlicensed personnel are being executed correctly.
- Advocate for the people supported, assisting in developing community resources to promote optimal health.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Flexible schedules are available on a part-time, full-time, or as-needed basis.
- The Travel Nurse pool will cover shifts across assigned locations with travel expenses covered as necessary.
- Travel nurse assignments are temporary and work locations and hours may vary depending on availability.
- Travel assignments will be reviewed every 90 days to determine ongoing needs and work locations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly required to lift 30 lbs.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pull a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
- Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Required to regularly stand and walk.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing and lifting.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
