As the Director of Nursing for Surgical Services at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health in Florida’s Treasure Coast region, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the surgical service departments’ operations within multiple hospitals and surgery centers, including but not limited to the Operating Rooms, Pre- and Post-Operative Departments, and Procedural areas. The Director of Nursing will demonstrate the ability to be a strong leader who focuses on quality, builds great relationships with all caregivers with whom the department interacts, collaborates well with others throughout the organization, and can develop and grow the team.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Oversee daily operations in conjunction with Nurse Managers.
- Direct the coordination and administration of patient care.
- Serve as a resource to Nurse Managers, Clinical Specialists, educators and other nursing caregivers. Assist with directing, coordinating and managing nursing areas.
- Ensure that nursing and clinical practice are in accordance with the philosophy, standards and goals of Cleveland Clinic.
- Collaborate with the leadership team regarding budget review, personnel management, productivity monitoring and caregiver development.
- Monitor adherence to Cleveland Clinic and the Nursing Institute’s policies and procedures.
- Promote ongoing professional development of caregivers at all levels.
Required qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required (BSN). Master’s degree in Nursing preferred (MSN).
- A minimum of four years of recent RN experience in an Operating Room, Endoscopy, Ambulatory Surgery Center, or Cardiac Cath Lab area.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- A minimum of one year of healthcare management experience.

Physical Requirements:
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
