Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Vascular Nurse Practitioner is a Registered Nurse with advanced educational preparation for managing the health care needs of patients in an ambulatory setting as well as in an inpatient setting. Scope of practice includes patient education, disease prevention, health maintenance and treatment of illness under protocols developed through collaborative efforts of the physician and nurse practitioner, and some cosmetic vascular procedures under the supervision of the vascular surgeon.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing. Completion of certificate Family Nurse Practitioner or Masters level Nurse Practitioner program.

Licensure: Current RN License in the State of Georgia. Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Association. Recognition by the Georgia Board of Nursing of the right to practice as a nurse practitioner.

Experience: Two years of experience in Advanced Practice Provider role preferred.

Skills: Knowledge of all phases of the nursing process. Demonstration of clinical competency in the Nurse Practitioner role. Demonstration of qualities of leadership and sound judgement. Committed to patient/family education in disease prevention and health maintenance. Ability to effectively interpret , implement and support approved hospital policies, regulations, philosophy and objectives.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in physician office setting and inpatient hospital setting with vascular patients who may be experiencing a wide range of medical problems. Required to work flexible hours. Ability to work with patients and significant others in stressful, emotional situations. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
