About the opportunity: The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive mental health care to patients in need of psychiatric and mental health support. The RN collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans. This role requires strong clinical skills, compassion, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. What you will do: Conducts thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations and risk assessments. Prioritizes patient needs utilizing critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills. Develops and implements individualized care plans based on patient needs and treatment goals. Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for side effects and therapeutic effects. Provides direct patient care, including crisis intervention and health education. Works closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care. Maintains clear and accurate patient records, ensuring documentation complies with legal and ethical standards. Communicates effectively with patients and their families, providing support and education about mental health conditions and treatments. Adheres to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including infection control and medication administration protocols. Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety. Ability to manage stressful situations and handle challenging behaviors with empathy and professionalism. Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience with crisis intervention and management of acute psychiatric conditions is highly desirable. License(s): Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required. Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Education: Minimum of Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018.
