Job Responsibilities
- Working in contract role in a local acute facility for a designated time period (usually 10-15 weeks)
- Delivering safe and effective patient care within your scope of practice in a PCU setting
- Evaluating patients' charts, lab results, diagnostic tests, and medication histories
- Maintaining up-to-date charting and ensuring accurate records of nursing interventions
- Taking and monitoring vital signs and changes in condition
- Administering medication and titrating doses as prescribed
- Dressing wounds and ensuring proper wound care
- Initiating IV lines and inserting/removing catheters
- Coordinating with, and overseeing, nursing assistants and other support staff in the PCU
- Communicating with patients and their loved ones about treatments, procedures, and continuity of care
- Ensuring compliance with all facility policies and procedures and relevant standards of care in a PCU environment
- Being accountable to follow and adhere to care plans for patients
Qualifications and Skills
- Current Michigan state Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 8 months experience as a PCU RN
- Completion of an approved nursing program (BSN preferred)
- BLS and ACLS certification from an approved training provider
- Telemetry certification may be required
- Immunizations as needed based on facility and location
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Completion of a successful background check
