Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Living Donor Transplant Coordinator, you will work cooperatively as a member of the transplant team. You will be responsible for coordinating all the activities related to pre- and post-transplant patients. You will evaluate potential recipients and living donors, educate potential recipients, living donors, and post-transplant patients, provide consultative services and education to nursing services during the transplant recipient’s hospitalization, and coordinate follow-up care of the transplant patient. You will collaborate with all other healthcare disciplines to achieve successful execution of the patient’s plan of care.
- You will assess and evaluate potential transplant recipients and living donors
- You will prioritize data collection according to the patient’s condition or needs
- You will provide education about transplantation to patients and their families
- You will assist nursing units in the care of all transplant patients to ensure proper admission and care of the hospitalized patient
- You will coordinate and assure thorough and consisted follow-up care of the transplant recipient with the nephrologists, transplant surgeons, and other care providers
What qualifications you will need:
- Minimum of two years clinical nursing experience
- One year critical care nursing experience – preferred
- Experience with renal transplantation or dialysis – preferred
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program or current enrollment in an Alternative Entry MSN program
- Bachelor’s or higher level degree – preferred
- Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or a Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license from a Nurse Licensure Compact Administrators (NCLA) Compact State.
- New hires have 90 days from start date to obtain Texas License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David’s HealthCare policy
