Charge Nurse - Baptist Behavioral Health Adult/Geriatric - FT Nights

Job Description

The RN - Charge Nurse for Behavioral Medicine is a key player in the delivery of care consistent with the recovery model assuring that staff is providing person centered care evidenced by choice, respect, dignity, partnerships, self-management, and full inclusion. This position takes responsibility to set the stage in creating a culture that embraces all aspects of the recovery model and strategies to reduce seclusion and restraint. This position creates a collaborative, non-punitive environment, and works through problems by communicating expectations to staff. This position is well versed in patients' rights regarding care, privacy, safety, confidentiality of medical records, and the Baker Act. This position is a resource to staff and can clearly give direction and guidance. As a Registered Nurse, this position explains illness, symptoms, courses of treatment and hope for the future and begins to teach the individual about the use and benefits of personal recovery plans and relapse. This position informs the individual of the benefits of active treatment, including medication, and the intended and unintended effects and ensures that the individual is educated about choices/resources available.

Responsibilities

Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients. Assesses patient's progress through expected hospital course, mobilizing resources and intervening as necessary to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved as anticipated based on a pre-determined plan for each day of hospitalization for the patient's diagnosis
Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/significant other in order to address all identified needs. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and the patient/family, utilizes the nursing process in the provision of quality patient care. Provides person centered care offering choices, engaging patients in the treatment process, fosters optimism and hope in others.
Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and that patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs and assure overall quality of care delivered.
Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Uses the nursing process to effectively assess, plan treatment, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes. Analyzes problems effectively and demonstrates appropriate courses of actions and solutions.
Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care.
Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development. Actively seeks out opportunities to grow and develop professionally.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

Associates Degree Nursing Required or
Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing
Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required
BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
CPI within 90 Days Required
Ukeru User Certification (UKERU_CERT) within 90 Days Required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills
