Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse. The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.
About the Addiction Treatment Program:
Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center Adult Addiction provides outpatient services for clients with drug and alcohol dependence as well as gambling addiction. Clients who participate in this program must be 18 years of age or older. Our fully integrated, dual-diagnosis treatment includes services for clients with addiction and mental health issues with treatment focusing on the fundamentals of recovery, development of recovery plans and relapse prevention. Individual, group and family therapy along with case management services are also provided. Psychiatric services are provided by our addiction psychiatrists and our multi-disciplinary team works together to offer clients a combination of therapies and medications to support recovery and promote overall wellness.
Where you fit in and what to expect:
The Staff Nurse II in the Addiction Treatment Program plays a crucial role in the delivery of healthcare services within the program. Within this role you will provide nursing care, administering medications, and supporting the overall well-being of individuals participating in narcotic treatment. The Staff Nurse works closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the effective implementation of treatment plans and adherence to program protocols.
Am I Qualified:
- Graduated from an accredited nursing program
- Minimum of twelve months of clinical experience
- Current Indiana License as a Registered Nurse.
- Must possess a valid Indiana Driver's License.
- Current BLS certification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Advocacy: Actively supports and promotes the well-being of the vulnerable population in Marion County.
- Care: Performs nursing services in Outreach clinics, responding to the health needs of patients.
- Teach: Provides health education and patient counseling to control and prevent disease, promoting optimum health.

- Works collaboratively with the health team to counsel clients and their families.
- Attends staff meetings regularly to share information and participate in discussions.
- Completes and submits internal nursing audits regularly.
- Conducts patient interviews and maintains health records for direct client services.
- Ensures timely completion of all documentation as per policy.
- Meets productivity goals set by the agency.
- Adapts activities/behaviors to ensure adequate care based on the age of patients served.
- Demonstrates an understanding of The Recovery Model, indicating a patient-centered approach to care, emphasizing recovery and empowerment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of best standards for age-appropriate care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Training in the use and side effects of psychotropic medications.
Skills:
- Advanced critical thinking regarding assessment, crisis intervention, within a strength-based framework.
- Strong interpersonal skills/ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written communication.
- Practice in mental health and addictions treatment.
- Experience in providing risk assessments.
Abilities:
- Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze client data.
- Ability to provide case presentations to AIC nursing and paramedic staff.
- Ability to receive feedback.
