Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire Registered Nurses (RN) for our Med Surg Acute Care Bridge Program who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
Objective: To provide the necessary acute care instruction for RNs that lack acute care experience or have acute care experience in the remote past. This bridge program is intended for RNs that will work on our Medical Surgical unit(s). During this 8-week intensive, ACB Program RNs will participate in acute care specific classes, have 1:1 preceptorship, and the support of clinical educators throughout the program on a Med Surg unit.
As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will:
• Educate patients and family through the continuum of care while also striving to advance their own knowledge and skills through careful consideration of feedback and guidance provided by more senior nurses and the Clinical Nurse Manager.
• Serve as role models to Level I nurses and use electronic resources to support best practices in patient care.
• Demonstrate professionalism, adheres to ANA standards of practice, and exemplifies the Adventist HealthCare values as they fulfill our nursing mission and vision.
• Use equipment and technology correctly, to delegate non-nursing duties appropriately, and to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
• Develop a plan of care according to patient population.
• Identify impending changes in patient condition accurately and initiates corrective action.
• Mentor students, colleagues and team members in patient-centered care.
• Conduct purposeful rounding from patient and family perspective.
• Conduct efficient literature searches and applies findings appropriately to practice.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in clinical care and participates in change of practice based on evidence.
Qualifications include:
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Passing score on NCLEX
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Current Maryland State nursing license
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
8-week program overview with preceptor:
• Follow the TSAM Model
• CES rounds daily with orientee and preceptor to evaluate progress, solve issues, etc.
• Biweekly evaluations with orientee, preceptor, CES, & manager to discuss progress, adjust anything necessary
• Completes online modules from Lippincott Learning – both general and those specific to unit (ortho vs. oncology, etc.)
• Orientation to Acute Care (goals of care, expectations, documentation, initiatives, patient safety, etc.)
• Care of the Acutely Ill: Part 1: Acute Care Basics and Part 2: Focuses on the decompensating patient
• Basic Dysrhythmia class
• Skills practice and demonstration
Work Schedule:
3 (12) hour shifts per week
Day Shift: 7a-7p
Night Shift: 7p-7a
