I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Assesses and obtain a patients basic health status, records, and related data according to standard procedure and needs of patient and their families.
2. Administers medications, performs treatment as ordered, and operates equipment according to policy and procedure.
3. Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12 lead EKGs, and administers vaccinations.
4. Participates in implementation and evaluation of care plan including long and short-term goals, nursing actions, and teaching.
5. Documents patient care according to standard procedure. Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to Provider and/or RN and assists in analyzing and interpreting patient data.
6.Assists provider with treatments, procedures, and special tests as required or directed.
7. Communicates with patients via electronic, telephonic, and in person, per scope of practice.
8. Collaborates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
9. Maintains a safe environment.

1. Complies with established departmental policies, procedures.
2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
3. Participatesin useof Quality Improvement in daily operations.
4. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
5. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
6. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
1. Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
2. Current Massachusetts licensure required.
3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
1. Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.
2. Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Must be able to lift, up to 50 pounds. Work is of heavy demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
