Job Description:
Medical Assistant Team Lead
The Medical Assistant Team Lead functions as an important member of the healthcare team by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients’ care, comfort, and safety. The individual performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. In addition to the responsibilities of the Medical Assistant, the Team Leader assists with day-to-day supervisory duties and department operations.
WORK SHIFT
Mon - Fri; 8 hour day shifts
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: One of the following:
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program
- Documented successful completion of the following courses or (their recognized course equivalent):
- Medical Terminology from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class.
- Anatomy & Physiology or Body Structure & Function or Human Body in Health & Disease from an accredited institution or completed on line through Universal Class.
- Pharmacology from an accredited institution.
- Two years of Medical Assistant-related work experience and completion of the required educational courses listed above within the first 12 months from hire.
Preferred/Optional: None
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Demonstrated leadership skills.
Preferred/Optional: Experience in healthcare.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Team Lead works under the direction of a primary care provider, as part of the healthcare team, and is responsible for providing general clinical nursing support. The individual is accountable for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care required for the patient and will assist in the development and revision of patient’s care plan. As Team Lead, the individual will assist with day-to-day supervisory duties and overall operations of his/her section acting as a resource and role model for the staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Knowledge of patient care standards and practices acquired through graduation from an accredited LPN program or documentation of nursing education and training through an accredited Registered Nurse program that meets state requirements to take LPN boards.
Preferred/Optional: Licensed practical nurse (LPN) diploma. Associate degree in nursing
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Experience working with patient care. Demonstrated proficiency with verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership skills.
Preferred/Optional: Experience as a licensed practical nurse within an area relative to the hiring department.
