RN Proton Center Part Time Days

Description

The RN - Proton Center reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

This role requires a clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the patient undergoing procedures and/or receiving radiation in the outpatient area, through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patients, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.

Responsibilities:

Directs patient care pertinent to the patient’s health or situation. Identifies issues and changes physiological condition to address in an individualized plan with expected outcomes.
Communicates patient status to multidisciplinary team members.
Communicates directly with patient and family about nursing care.
Provides clinical interventions and coordinates care delivery to meet patient needs.
Documents the nursing process.
Assimilates information from multiple sources and implements appropriate action plan to provide safe, quality care.
Assures safety and security of patients, significant others and staff.
Follows research protocols for assigned patients.
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of anti-neoplastic therapy: physical and psychological effects, side effects, risks and benefits.
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of principle of sterile technique.
Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice through participation in ongoing educational activities appropriate to the area of practice. Seeks experiences and formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and knowledge.
Collaborates with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice. Creates a documented plan, focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services, that indicates communications with patients, families, and others.
Uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in nursing practice and in the healthcare delivery system.
Participates in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

Required:

Associates degree in Nursing
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois
Certification in Basic CPR

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in nursing
1-2 years of Oncology experience
Nursing specialty certification, if eligible
CERT ACLS, CERT PALS
