Position Summary:

KVC’s Nursing Supervisor serves as the Nursing Department’s liaison when working with senior hospital leaders to improve and innovate programs. The Nursing Supervisor will ensure the comfort and safety of patients and families are in accordance with legal and hospital policies and procedures and/or psychiatric residential treatment policies and procedures and establish standards of nursing care and practice as defined by the Kansas State Bord of Nursing, the State of Kansas, and KVC Health Systems.

Olathe, Kansas

Education:

Associate degree in nursing required from an accredited college or university, BSN preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Licensed as a Registered Nurse the State of Kansas. Valid driver’s license required.

Experience: At least 2 years of prior experience or training in psychiatric nursing. Preferred Experience/Skills: More than two years of experience supervising registered nurses providing psychiatric patient care. Experience utilizing electronic medical administration records and health records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide respectful and inclusive leadership to nursing departments’ employees regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, or ethnicity.

• Practice conduct that displays respect for all KVC colleagues and community stakeholders regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, or ethnicity.

• Oversees nursing duties and medication administration services for inpatient and/or residential patients.

• Participates in the administration on call rotation in emergencies Oversee scheduling of nurses on duty

• Collaborate with HR to recruit, interview and hire new employees • Train new employees as required by KVC and state contracts

• Coordinates pharmacy services and serves as liaison with contract pharmacy as assigned

• Reviews and critiques clinical reports completed by nursing personnel • Participates in infection control committee and surveillance

• Ensures consistency across all programs pertaining to compliance with all applicable standards and requirements of The Joint Commission, the Kansas Board of Nursing and all other applicable regulatory licensing bodies

• Assures timeliness and quality of reports and documentation • Ensures that organizational policies and procedures are followed • Maintains current knowledge of KVC’s technology tools, not limited to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

• Oversees in-service training for staff and ensures the completion of required in-service training hours and other required training

• Assists the attending physician in educating patients and guardians about medication effects and side effects • Assists in providing accurate information regarding patient progress to the Treatment Team

• Participates in the overall decision-making process of the treatment team for quality patient care • Supervises special treatment procedures delivered to patients
