Mother Baby, NICU and Labor & Delivery - Nights Only

Mother Baby Position Responsibilities:

Understands all new physician orders must be implemented within two hours of initiation for routine and within 30 minutes or less for stat
Understands and is able to administer medication per physicians orders adhering to the hospital approved patient identifiers, following the 5 rights of patient medication administration
Understands the procedures to ensure continuity of patient profile/kardex and/or procedure preference cards or other unit specific tools, in a timely manner
Performs initial vital signs and admission history to include introduction to patient and family
Assessment of chief complaint and notification of physician within 15 minutes of arrival to unit
Obtains and documents a complete nursing admission assessment, including physiological and psychological factors to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care within eight hours of admission
Performs and documents an accurate systems assessment at the beginning of each shift
Responds to diagnostic data and initiates appropriate action or intervention

Mother Baby Minimum qualifications:

Graduated from an accredited College of Nursing.
Current/Valid Florida RN Licensure.
BLS & ACLS Certification required.
NRP Certification required.
Basic Fetal Monitoring Course preferred.

Labor & Delivery Responsibilities:

Demonstrates ability manage labor patients.
Demonstrates ability to assess neonate at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation.
Demonstrates ability to assist during epidural anesthesia.
Demonstrates ability to assist with breastfeeding.
Demonstrates ability to circulate in the operating room.
Demonstrates ability to initiate transitional care on the newborn.
Demonstrates ability to manage patients in post anesthesia recovery area.
Demonstrates ability to perform head to toe assessments on obstetrical patients.
Maintains NPR and Fetal monitoring every 2 years.

L&D Minimum qualifications:

Graduated from an accredited College of Nursing.
Current/Valid Florida RN Licensure.
BLS & ACLS Certification required.
NRP Certification required.
AWHONN Intermediate certification w/n 30 days of hire.

NICU Position Responsibilities:

Knowledge of medications and their correct administration for the neonates based on their diagnosis, age and weight.
Ability to assess the neonate at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation.
Ability to perform head to toe assessment on neonates and reassessments as per policy.
Demonstrates knowledge of the Riley Infant Pain Scale to assess for pain. Proactive with providing comfort measures to the infant during painful procedures.
Ability to monitor hemodynamic status of neonate and correctly interpret the findings.
Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based on the Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
Performs and maintains IV therapy in neonates requiring medication administration, and fluid and electrolyte management.
Float within the Maternal Child Division willingly as per competency matrix.
Competent in insertion, assessment and discontinuation of catheters, tubes and/or drains.

NICU Minimum qualifications:

Graduated from an accredited College of Nursing.
Current/Valid Florida RN Licensure.
BLS Certification required.
NRP Certification required.
