For more than 30 years, St. Luke's Penn Foundation has been partnering with individuals and families to help break the devastating cycle of alcohol and/or drug addiction.

Guided by the fundamental belief that family plays an important role in the recovery process, we offer a comprehensive, forward-thinking approach to addiction treatment that is customizable to meet the unique needs of each of our clients.

Our inpatient rehab provides a comprehensive approach to care that is designed for individuals 18 years of age and older struggling with alcohol addiction and/or drug abuse/dependence.

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible to provide professional nursing care for the clients of the Recovery Center. These nursing functions are carried out according to the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act, hospital policy, and the hospital Mission Statement, and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides nursing care for all residential clients
Assessment of medical related needs
The administration of medications as prescribed by a physician
Provision of medical interventions as directed by a physician
Provides individual assistance with clients who are experiencing medical or mental health symptoms, in addition to the dependence
Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the client treated
Participates in a collaborative plan of care in accordance with the multi-disciplinary treatment plan and accepted standards of nursing practice
Contributes to patient/family education process and documents accordingly
Functions as a professional role model and resource person, providing guidance to other team members
Maintains clinical records of all client contact according to hospital policy and other regulatory guidelines
Documents patient information thoroughly, reflecting consideration of treatment plan
Contributes knowledge of clinical and programmatic needs of client as it relates to clinical knowledge base.
Maintain nursing license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and adhere to the PNA Standards of Care
Maintain CPR/First Aid certification

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting for up to 2 hours per day, 1 hour at a time. Standing for up to 10 hour per day, 8 hours at a time. Walk for 6 hours per day, 10 minutes at a time. Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 lbs. Occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 lbs. Transport patients weighing up to 250 lbs. via wheelchair, bed and/or stretcher. Frequently stoop and bend. Frequently reach above shoulder level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision.

EDUCATION:

Pennsylvania LPN license

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

One year of mental health experience preferred
