Job Summary and Qualifications
The Registered Nurse in this area assumes the responsibility of team leader utilizing the nursing process in planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care given to the patient during the perioperative period. Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age specific needs.
What you will do in this role:
- You will have knowledge of perioperative nursing according to AORN Guidelines for Peri-Operative Practice, ASPAN Peri-Anesthesia Nursing Standards and hospital and departmental policies/procedures
- You will have the ability to problem solve, apply technical skills, communicate clearly (written and verbally) and function collaboratively to provide direct perioperative care
- You will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with other healthcare team members
- You will have strong customer service skills required as incumbent and will interact with multiple staff, physicians, vendors, other departments and external facilities
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing and licensed RN in the state of Texas
- Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
- BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- ACLS & PALS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- 1 year RN critical care or perioperative experience preferred
