Description
The Clinic RN Supervisor is a member of the working team, providing triage, anticoagulation, and other advanced nursing services. Under the direction of the Director of Primary Care and CAPS, the Clinic RN Supervisor oversees nursing activities in the Clinic and ensures staff have the tools and resources needed to successfully perform their jobs. The Clinic RN Supervisor provides direction to staff, assists with scheduling, time cards, training & development and managing personnel issues, including hiring and performance concerns.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan for delivery of optimum patient care, patient care coordination, assess and deliver patient care based on department and facility standards.
- Perform various nursing procedures within the scope of licensure, including but not limited to IV starts, urinary catheterization.
- Room patients
- Assist providers with procedures, chronic disease care management,
- Administer immunizations and complete appropriate documentation in EMR
- Assist LPN and CMA staff with advanced procedures as needed
- Ensure patient phone calls to the provider are accurately documented in the EMR, including supporting documentation detailing resolution
2. Communicate and collaborate with technical experts and managers of various departments to solve technical or process issues.
- Partner with ancillary leaders to work through personnel issues concerning shared staff members
- Identify and implement process improvement efforts spanning multiple departments
3. Oversee Clinic Nursing staff including scheduling, time card review, performance management and training & development initiatives.
- Manage personnel issues; partnering with HR and Director to achieve desired outcome
- Resolve daily scheduling issues, time card errors, and assignment of benefit hours
- Attend routine staff meetings; assist the Director with creating and deploying staff training programs
- Ensure annual compliance requirements are completed in a timely manner
4. Participates in rotation of clinic leadership call schedule.
- Take calls from employees on designated weekend
- Assist with filling shifts when staff call in
- Cover weekend shifts when necessary
5. Comply with department and facility standards.
- Understand Clinic Policies and Procedures
- Perform work according to organization policies and procedures
6. Other duties as assigned.
- Project management initiatives including but not limited to orientation, INR clinic processes
- Implement and evaluate standards of nursing practice and other internal/external regulatory requirements
- Ensure clinic readiness for Rural Health Clinic survey
- Answer triage line, assist concerned patients via phone; Follow triage protocols to determine appropriate next steps
- Reviews and completes medication refills for primary clinic provider’s in a timely matter
Requirements
Education & Licensure:
- Current RN license – WI & MN
- Anticoagulation certification desired
Experience:
- Prior clinic, medical/surgical, urgent care center or emergency room experience preferred
- 1 year of supervisor or management experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively train others and develop and implement training plans
- Flexible and willing to fill different roles as needed
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities
- Positively contributes to a team environment, assisting the organization in achieving goals and objectives
- Strong customer service skills
Supervisory Requirements:
- Oversee Clinic Staff including scheduling, time card review, identifying developmental & training needs, performance management, discipline, hiring and interviewing.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
