Position Summary Lead Educator Full Time 40 Hours
Job Description:
The Nurse Educator sphere of clinical practice influences patient care, nurses’ competencies, nursing practice, and the development or organizational systems. The Nurse Educator demonstrates leadership by inspiring others to give compassionate, remarkable care to improve patient outcomes. In working with nurses, the Nurse Educator facilitates the development of the spirit of inquiry, critical thinking and skill synthesis and promotes nursing’s contribution to patient outcomes. The Nurse Educator functions in collegial relationships with physicians, nursing peers and other professionals and individuals who influence the health environment. Incorporated within each tole function, the Nurse Educator is a role model, patient advocate, change agent, leader, and cost-effective practitioner.
Essential Functions:
- Promptly provides clinical support and serves as advisor, mentor and resource for nurse managers and staff.
- Observes staff and reviews documentation for learning opportunities related to standards of care and practice.
- Advises and supports nursing staff collaboratively to problem-solve clinical and administrative issues.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager in assigning preceptors and evaluating preceptor performance.
- Assists in the active development and maintenance of education of the unit staff from orientation through annual competence.
- Active partnership with Nurse Managers and/or Clinical Leaders to establish unit-based specialty education, competencies, and certification.
- Assists with the orientation of new staff including participating in monthly Nursing Orientation.
- Provides coaching and education (or facilitates) to staff so that they can meet/exceed performance expectations.
- Develops multidisciplinary educational opportunities to enhance patient outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.
- Experience: - At least 2 years of current nursing experience preferred.
- Certification/Licensure: Mass Nursing License, BCLS and ACLS required
