GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position provides nursing services to residents of the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) in Lander, including duties in our medical clinic. WLRC currently serves Wyoming residents in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and has a newly constructed Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) - the first of its kind in the nation! - Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or health care provider and according to the plan of care derived from the health provider's orders and RN assessment.
- Oversee Central Supply, employee health files, and provide back-up for our medical clinic.
- Provide daily nursing care to chronic and acute patients. Follow provider orders and plans of care.
- Serve as a liaison between residential staff, clinic, and health care providers. Monitor the health status of clients and provide information to providers and other nursing staff.
- Confer with RNs and providers to discuss, plan and implement a course of action in resident care.
- Administer medications and provide routine treatments to residents, such as respiratory therapy, insulin therapy, dressing changes, etc.
- Provide input as to nursing and medication needs.
- Keep abreast of standard nursing practices, ICF and SNF standards, and WLRC policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE: - Knowledge of medications, administration, reactions and side effects.
- Knowledge of First Aid techniques and CPR.
- Knowledge of infection control and universal precaution techniques.
- Knowledge of ICF and SNF standards and regulations.
- Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate medical equipment.
- Skills in both verbal and written communication and the ability to communicate with others in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to operate a computer and applicable software programs.
- Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Nursing)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Wyoming
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Wyoming
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: - Must be able to safely move (twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position, and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities.
- Ability to monitor sounds, noises, resident location, etc. in order to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
- Ability to intervene during resident behavior episodes.
NOTES: - FLSA: Non-exempt
- All new hires or rehires starting in a non-exempt position on or after January 1, 2018, are required to be paid hourly.
- The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify. We will provide the Social Security Administration, and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. Please note that we do not use this information to pre-screen job applicants.
- A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, Department of Family Services, and the F.B.I. for every successful applicant.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions. Drug testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.

**Hiring Bonus eligibility and conditions**
- New state employees and temporary employees accepting a permanent position.
- Current state employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been open to the public.
- One year of service in the position must be completed. Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay.
- Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of (1) year from the promotion date.
- Employees will only be eligible for (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
