Penn Medicine Princeton Health is seeking a Registered OR Nurse for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Monroe, NJ. This is a part-time benefit-eligible day opportunity (2-3 days/week). This position comes with NO nights, holidays, weekend or call requirements. A background in orthopedics, total joints, endoscopy and/or pain management is essential.
The Monroe Ambulatory Surgery Center consists of 3 ORs. We're a small group that thrives on teamwork. All of our staff are cross-trained, and there is ample opportunity for advancement. Summary:
- A professional Registered Nurse who is responsible for the direct supervision of nursing staff which is accomplished by: maintaining open lines of communication with staff, physicians, and management; providing resource information as requested and overseeing the delivery of safe and clinically competent nursing care that is evidenced based.
Responsibilities:
- The Assistant Nurse Manager follows the standards of the OR Registered Nurse (Job Code 5028) within the defined job position related to the cost center.
- Responsible for the day to day managerial functions of the unit, under the direction of the Nurse Manager. Includes interviewing and hiring; counseling employees and follow through of the disciplinary process, with appropriate documentation; completing performance appraisals in a timely manner and being actively involved in assuring completion of the staff schedule.
- Acts as a role model and mentor for staff in the procedural setting. Responsible for clinical practices on unit as demonstrated by creating patient care assignments which address patient acuity and staff skill set; supervising and acting as resource for staff and routinely evaluating appropriateness of care rendered by staff with follow up as needed.
- Maintain open communication with staff via scheduled shift meetings; maintains good relationships with other departments, physicians and their practices and nursing units. Promptly and effectively resolves problems and complaints to best serve our patients.
- Supports the Nurse Manager in development and growth of procedural specialties to ensure appropriate selection training and communication.
- Works with vendors to ensure proper instrumentation and supplies are available.
- Assists procedural educator and Nurse Manager in planning formal orientation program for new staff by assigning preceptor for orientee, following up on orientation goals following the AORN standards and Peri-op 101 guidelines.
- Responsible for personal development by planning and implementing annual goals and objectives, in conjunction with Nurse Manager’s input, to assure maintenance of clinical competency and enhanced knowledge of managerial concepts. Supports Nurse Manager in guiding and directing staff in a competent and professional manner.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager and Educator to promote staff development and assure optimal patient outcomes. Actively participates in Peri-operative leadership meetings and assures communication of changes to the staff.
- Maintains strict standards of confidentiality with staff, patients, families and Nursing Administration.
Credentials:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
- Registered Nurse - NJ (Required)
- Cert RN Operating Room
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) preferred
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required or in pursuit of
Previous experience working as a surgical nurse
Member of Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) preferred
