About The Outer Banks Hospital
The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.

Position Summary
The CNA II performs specific responsibilities under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse and functions within the framework of hospital standards and values. The CNA II will be expected to perform all tasks as outlined in the NC Board of Nursing CNA II scope of practice list. CNA II may also be required to handle administrative tasks and perform diverse duties for nursing department.
Responsibilities
Follows departmental guidelines for absences and tardiness. Complies with allotted break and meal times. Is flexible with and participates collaboratively with unit self scheduling. Resolves staffing conflicts.
Participates in temporary assignment measures of department. Attends at least 75% of unit staff meetings, and mandatory unit or hospital based in-services. Participates in elective education offerings. Practices collaboratively with colleagues and others members of healthcare team.
Practices collaboratively with colleagues and others members of healthcare team. Shift reports and communications are timely, pertinent and accurate. Follow established infection control/stand precautions policies and procedures.
Responds quickly and appropriately to emergency situations. Is aware of standard of practice for profession or specialty and integrates such into daily practice. Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.

Collects, reports and documents data including intervention (i.e. vital signs, height, weight and mobility). Intake and output in a timely and accurate fashion. Performs technical skills and comfort measures that provide for the patients plan of care and personal hygiene (i.e. feeding, bathing, elimination assist, incontinence skin care, wound care, ostomy care, catheter care, heat and cold treatment) as delegated by the Registered Nurse. Assists with admission, discharge, and transfers of patients as directed by the RN.
Ambulates, positions and turns patients as delegated by RN. Assists with patient safety related to age and condition. Assists with patient specific safety precautions. Collects, reports, and documents data related to patient safety. Provides and maintains a clean, safe environment and performs and/or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures and infection control measure. Prepares and assists patient during examination, procedures and treatments, assists MD and RN with such as needed.
Minimum Requirements
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
High School Diploma or equivalent- or higher.
Successful completion of Nursing Assistant II Course, current certification as CNAII in the state of North Carolina, current listing on the CNAII Registry with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
American Heart Association BLS certification required upon hire.

Location: ECU Health Outer Banks Hospital - Medical Surgical Unit
Shift: This role is PRN. Will include day, night, holiday, weekend shift offerings.
