Job Description:

Job Summary: The Licensed Vocational Nurse Medication Access Coordinator is responsible for the assigned nursing care following the provider's orders under the guidance and supervision of the nurse in charge. This position is responsible for processing, educating, and administering long-acting injectable HIV medications in the Healing Wings Clinic. These duties are performed with the clinic pharmacist, providers, and other nursing staff.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

Delivers quality nursing care to assigned groups of patients while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
Monitors, records, and reports symptoms and changes in patient's conditions.
Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
Completes documentation to meet regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
Provides patient education directed towards identified knowledge deficits.
Guides, educates, and provides leadership as a preceptor to LVNs and non-licensed clinical staff, as directed.
Develops and maintains a process to track the status of all submissions, prior authorizations, orders, receipt of medication, and pending applications, of long-acting HIV medications for patients assigned.
Coordinates and administers long-acting injectable HIV medications in the Healing Wings Clinic following provider orders.
Contacts manufacturers for eligibility criteria and application forms for drug assistance programs and co-pay assistance.
Participates in performance improvement process initiatives within JPS Health Network and assigned departments.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Graduate from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing.
2 years of relevant experience.
Current licensure to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners and must maintain licensure throughout employment.
Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
Completion of unit-specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days, if applicable.
All required TDSHS HIV Care Services Branch Standards of Care training within 90 days.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior nursing experience.
Experience working with persons with HIV/AIDS and Chronic health conditions.
Experience processing federal and state financial assistance programs and third-party coverage.
Experience with long-acting injectable medication administration.
Experience with maintaining pharmaceutical inventory following Hospital and State regulations.
