Job Summary and Qualifications
- Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care needs of the patient.
- Document nursing care in compliance with policies procedures and practices established by the Nursing Department and the hospital.
- Initiates prescribed treatment plan.
- Initiate and carry out nursing plan of care.
- Administers standard medications, blood and blood products.
- Provides for activities of daily living for patients.
- Transport patients.
- Maintenance of peripheral, central, and picc lines.
- Identification of potential and actual life threatening dysrhythmias,
- Management of patients requiring alternative methods of ventilation and limited mechanical ventilation.
- Management of vasoactive and cardiac specific pharmacological agents.
- Management of patients with a variety of medical diagnosis and resulting complications.
- Performs nursing care consistent with the needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients requiring treatment and care for pre and post surgical conditions.
- Management of actively dying patients providing comfort measures as needed for each patient.
- Provides care for pre and post operative patients.
- Participation in discharge planning.
- Provision of emotional support for patients and families based on the assessments of their coping skills.
- Performance of nursing care in compliance with safety policies and procedures established by the hospital and Nursing Department.
- Perform special assignments as needed/requested.
- Serves as a clinical resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care
- Attend staff meetings and in-services.
- Participation in discharge planning.
- Takes appropriate measures to ensure safety of patients.
- Management and interpretation data derived from invasive monitoring devices such as but not limited to Arterial lines, Swan Ganz catheters, AV sheaths.
- Management of patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
- Management of complex disease entities and resulting complications.
What qualifications you will need:
- TX RN Licensure or RN Compact State License
- ADN Required
- BSN Preferred
- BLS
- ACLS preferred (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Minimum of 1 year recent nursing experience in area of practice in an acute care setting
