Job Description:

Description: The Supv Nurse Care Mgmt - BH is responsible for providing operational supervision to the Behavioral Health Care Management team that perform the functions of utilization review and management, progression of care facilitation and transition care coordination. Responsible for ensuring adequate and accurate patient assignments, staff scheduling, patient flow and assists in meeting financial targets by effectively assisting in supervising utilization, productivity, staff and supplies.

Typical Duties:

Participates in the hiring, orienting, training, performance reviews, counseling, disciplining, and terminations.
Supervises the daily activities of the assigned employees providing guidance and direction as needed.
Monitors staff activity and productivity; makes staff assignments to ensure coverage of all areas.
Participates in the development, refinement and implementation of Care Management programs, policies and procedures.
Coordinates ongoing staff education and training regarding current and new programs and processes.
Monitors and evaluates compliance with performance standards for each key process; assists in developing performance reports and analyzes patterns of variance and implements strategies for improvement.
Develops and initiates cost savings strategies to decrease resource utilization; participates in efforts to develop collaborative and integrated work processes.
Serves as a resource to healthcare team regarding care coordination issues.
Ensures compliance with state, federal, regulatory and payor requirements.
Develops and implements appropriate metrics for monitoring compliance with requirements.
Assists in preparing and maintaining the department budget to meet or exceed budgetary expectations.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience: Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing. 2 plus years of experience in Acute Care Case Management, Care Management or Utilization Management. 2 plus years of experience in a hospital setting. 2 plus years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited University. 2 plus years of experience in a psychiatric setting.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: Licensed Registered Nurse through the Texas State Board of Examiners.
Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: Case Management Certification (ACM). 1 plus years of experience in using InterQual or Milliman criteria experience.
