The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider a challenging and diverse employment opportunity with our school. We are looking for a highly-motivated individual to fill the position of School Nurse in Salt Lake City. This position may be filled with either a RN or LPN.
*Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., plus accompanying student(s) on the van to and from school. Hours are based on student attendance in conjunction with the school year. There may be an opportunity to work in the summer.*
Principal DutiesAs a school nurse you will:
Care for a medically fragile student in class and on route to and from school.
May write student health care plans and amend the plan when care changes.
Attend 504/IEP meetings as needed.
Provide special and general nursing services for students enrolled at USDB.
Provide treatment, care and evaluation of students medical needs.
Assist with medical emergencies, perform first aid as needed, submit incident reports.
Implement and improve record systems and assure continuity of student care.
Conduct training for staff as necessary.
Ride in van with a student to and from school.
The Ideal CandidateThe Ideal Candidate will possess or eligibility of:
Licensure as a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) in the state of Utah.
Preference will be given to candidates that have American Sign Language (ASL) skills.
Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Communicate clearly and effectively.
Enter, transcribe, record, store or maintain information in either written or electronic form.
Maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
Successful completion of a criminal background check.
