Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking highly skilled full-time Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, or Certified Nurse Midwives with great communication skills, clinical skills and a strong emphasis on excellent customer service to see our increasing, diverse patient population at our Antelope Valley Health Center.
The full-time Clinician will join the Patient Services team and provide quality patient care including examinations, diagnosis, treatment, education, counseling, and serve as a medical resource for other licensed and non-licensed staff. Perform physical exams for both males and females with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examination, pelvic examination, male genital exam, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, Mid-Life Services counseling, examinations and other types of more specialized procedures as indicated by medical policy.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:- Current CA Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Certified Nurse Midwife license required
- Current furnishing license required (for NP)
- Current BLS & ACLS certification required from American Heart Association
- Master’s/Graduate degree required
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends (2 Saturdays per month)
- New grads welcome
- Women’s healthcare specialty preferred
- Clinical experience in acute care environment (ER, ICU, Med Surg) and/or several years experience in OR/Surgical environment preferred
- Flexibility to be deployed to other sites in case of low volume
- Be available to work On-Call shifts to provide patient care up to six (6) days annually
- Valid driver license and reliable means of transportation is required
About the position:- Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.
- Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies as indicated and permitted by affiliate medical protocols
- Recognize and treat minor deviations from the normal, using prescribed protocols and consulting with the Physician as needed
- Ability to interpret colposcopy results to patients
- Act as a medical resource and provide oversight of non-licensed staff
- Label, dispense and prescribe all FDA approved birth control methods including ECP
- Insertion/removal of IUC and implants
- Perform examination and assessment of post abortion clients including pelvic exams and labs when needed
- Maintain PPLA standards of productivity
- Provide medication abortion services and perform ultrasound to determine dating of pregnancy according to guidelines.
- Perform venipuncture, injections, and IV insertions
- Proficient in Microscopy and interpretation of results
- Complete and maintain Rh, Beta, and MAB follow-up logs
The following are responsibilities of Planned Parenthood clinicians as outlined in the medical standards and guidelines:- Secure a complete health history, including gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, sexual, family health, and psychosocial; perform a general screening physical examination; obtain and/or interpret appropriate diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests
- Provide family planning, nutrition, sexual counseling, and principles of health promotion and maintenance to women and men
- Provide appropriate management for women and men in need of reproductive related services, including fertility control, infertility, and sexually transmitted diseases
- Serves as a resource for medical and surgical abortion services
- Conducts pre-abortion assessment and post-abortion follow-up examination with recognition of normal and abnormal findings and refers or collaborates with physician as appropriate
- Perform colposcopy services after completion of additional training if needed
- Recognizes ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care to women/men throughout the life cycle
- Perform Quality Management audits if requested
- Notify the Quality Manager, Supervisor, and/or Center Manager if deficiencies are found
- Adhere to Safety/Risk Management policies and procedures
