DESCRIPTION

The Infusion/Procedure Nurse administers chemotherapy, biotherapy, clinical trial infusions, and other related services in a fast-paced outpatient infusion center. Responsibilities include performing blood work, dressing changes, injections, and providing care for post-Bone Marrow Transplant patients. This role also requires the ability to respond to urgent medical emergencies promptly.

The Infusion/Procedure Nurse will provide care coordination and infusion support during periods of low patient census or when no procedures are scheduled. The ability to multitask and manage multiple patients simultaneously while effectively handling patient care is essential. The nurse will educate patients and their families before and after these procedures, collaborating closely with the provider performing the procedure. Additionally, the nurse ensures daily readiness of the Procedure Suite, reviews the procedure census, and manages the provider schedule, including accommodating same-day treatments and lab services.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Current California RN license.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification with recent experience (within the last 6 months).
Minimum one (1) year of recent (within the last 6 months) oncology infusion center or acute care oncology experience. BMT experience is highly preferred.
Demonstrated experience with the care and education of patients before and after procedures.
Care coordination experience and previous experience working on a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Must have proven independent thinking, decision making, problem solving, and prioritizing skills.
Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

BSN.
BMT experience.
Recent infusion center experience.
Clinical Trials Infusion experience.
Outpatient procedural experience.
OCN certification.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Must be able to work weekends as needed.
Selected candidates may be hired at the CNIII or CNIV level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
