DESCRIPTION

The Registered Nurse will perform a wide variety of autonomous nursing care activities in support of the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Treatment Center (HTTC) for patients with bleeding disorders needing chronic lifelong care. Clinical Nurse II duties include, case nurse management in an ambulatory setting. This will include prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests and developing and executing patient/family education. Position requires initiative, ability to prioritize critical demands and work in various independent and/or multidisciplinary team environments. Capacity to respond and coordinate to urgent medical emergencies. Nurse is expected to practice consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
RN duties also include performing in-home factor infusions for bleeding disorder patients. Work schedule and travel distance will vary as needed to support the HTTC Home Infusion Nursing Team. Home infusion bleeding disorder patient population covers geographical areas to include; Imperial, San Diego and Riverside counties. Home office for this position will be the Hemophilia & Thrombosis Treatment Center located in La Jolla, California.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
RN license issued by the State of California.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Must have a minimum of two (2) years of active RN experience in Ambulatory Care or Inpatient Care.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to work within an interdisciplinary team environment.
Expert knowledge and experience with standard patient care equipment such as EKG, oximeter, blood pressure monitor, IV pumps, phlebotomy, saline locks, PICC and Porta-Cath, assisting with joint injections, etc.
Ability to draw blood, start IV lines, collect specimens and administer IV medications.
Positive communication and telephone skills.
Computer literacy including knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and various computer programs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BSN
- Bilingual Spanish highly preferred.
- Recent hematology experience
- Recent Infusion Center experience
- Telephonic triage experience
- Ambulatory care experience
- Knowledge of hemophilia diagnosis and treatment, with the ability to recognize and manage bleeding emergencies
- EMR/Epic experience

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $170,485 - $170,485 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $81.65 - $81.65
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
