JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse Team Leader performs all of the job duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse and assists with the day-to-day supervisory duties and overall operations of his/her section acting as a resource and role model for the staff. This individual demonstrates excellent clinical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and makes decisions consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) policies, department protocols/guidelines, and the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Collaborates with Department Manager and other Team Leaders/Supervisors in assigning and maintaining adequate staffing for his/her section.
2. Assists with orientation and training of staff in his/her section.
3. Assists with clerical duties such as timekeeping and ordering and invoicing of supplies as necessary.
4. Works to solve day-to-day technical and performance problems.
5. Assists in monitoring and coordinating workflow for efficiency.
6. Assists with scheduling staff for in-service and training programs.
7. Assists with probationary, annual, and other performance appraisals along with Department Manager on staff in his/her section. Information gathering will be done by direct observation, peer and physician input.
8. Participates in the interview and hiring process for prospective new staff in his/her section as requested by the Department Manager.
9. Participates in required meetings and serves on committees as requested by Department Manager.
10. Assesses the care given by patient care staff to ensure quality delivery.
11. Initiates and implements changes as necessary to interface with other departments.
12. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.
13. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
1. Assists Department Manager in the development, interpretation, and updating of department policies and procedures.
2. Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
Preferred/Optional: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Two years’ nursing experience in area of training. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks; strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License Compact License. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
