Job Summary (EP RN): The RN EP Lab is responsible for assisting with all procedures performed in the EP lab. On the job training in the use of EP monitoring/stimulation system, Intra Cardiac Echo and sterile technique will be provided. This position will assist the Physician with the implantation of Permanent Pacemakers, ICD’s and Bi-V-ICD’s. High degree of understanding of the interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias required. On the job training provided for all invasive EP procedures including operation and troubleshooting of all support equipment. The RN EP Lab will assist in the cleaning and restocking of the lab as needed. Job Summary (EP Tech): The Cardiac EP Tech is responsible for assisting with all procedures performed in the EP. This position must be competent in the use of the EP monitoring/stimulation system; Intra cardiac Echo and 3D mapping systems. This position must also be competent in sterile technique and will assist the Physician with the implantation of Permanent Pacemakers, ICD’s and Bi-V-ICD’s. The position must demonstrate a high degree of understanding of the interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias and all invasive EP procedures and must be competent in the operation and troubleshooting of the X-ray system. The Cardiac EP Tech will assist in the cleaning and restocking of the lab as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience (EP RN): Graduate from an accredited school or college of nursing – BSN preferred or required within five (5) years of hire date. Current RN Teammates transferring to another RN position in the same Service Line/Specialty will not be required to complete BSN within five (5) years of transfer date. Effective July 1, 2022, current RN Teammates transferring to another RN position in a different Service Line/Specialty will be required to complete BSN within five (5) years of transfer date. At least one year of work experience as a Registered Nurse; experience working as an RN in high acuity critical care, emergency department, or Cath Lab preferred. Education and Experience (EP Tech):Graduate from accredited school of Radiologic Technology with six months of Cath Lab, EP Lab, or Critical Care experience; or Current RCIS or RCES active status or equivalent in health-related field preferred. Licensure/Certification: If Radiology Technician, must be ARRT certified. If Registered Nurse, must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or hold a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of SC. RCIS or RCES credential preferred. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card. Demonstrates an understanding of all invasive EP procedures, the equipment and supplies needed for each procedure, and the indications for performing each procedure. Demonstrates an understanding of all device implantation procedures, the equipment and supplies needed for each procedure using appropriate sterile technique. Other: Improves quality by monitoring the performance of EP procedures, offering suggestions for improvement, and taking actions to meet customer needs, and assuring work is performed consistent to quality standards. Communicates in a clear and effective manner to physician, staff and patients. Responds in a calm and efficient manner to all emergency situations that may arise in the EP lab. Respects the confidential nature of all aspects of patient care and business issues as outlined in hospital policies. Displays professional behavior at all times in the work place. Adheres to safety standards, policies and procedures. Accepts responsibility for the continuous improvement of work place safety by reporting unsafe conditions and suggesting improvements. Understands that patients may be apprehensive or fearful of invasive EP procedures and uses education and empathy to alleviate or reduce apprehension and fear.
