DESCRIPTION

Jacobs Medical Center BMT unit offers the only Blood and Marrow Transplant program in San Diego that is affiliated with a renowned School of Medicine and accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Hematopoietic Therapy (FACT). We focus on Blood and Marrow Transplant on our 36-bed private room unit. The growing list of diseases, as well as non-malignant conditions we treat includes: lymphoma and Hodgkin’s disease, acute and chronic leukemia, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndrome, sarcoma, testicular cancer, aplastic anemia, autoimmune and genetic diseases.
Roles and responsibilities of the Cellular and Trial Specialist are as follows:
- Manages all inpatient, cellular therapy clinical trials (50%).
- Provides RN education/support. Provides Advanced Practice Provider education/support/and outlines order entry in alignment with study requirements.
- Reviews all protocols. Collaborates with study coordinators, physicians, and outpatient team to ensure all study requirements are complete.
- Works closely with IDS pharmacist to ensure study is implemented correctly prior to and during admission.
- Coordinates admission with outpatient and charge nurses.
- Attends all study related meetings.
- Provides coverage or administers all cellular therapies on BMT (50%).
- Provides quality monitoring of water baths and REMS training.
- Time permitting, helps with Wound Wednesday and Foley Friday (0-10%).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BSN.
- Registered Nurse (RN) License issued by the state of California.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Seven (7) or more years of recent experience with blood and marrow/cellular therapy, acute care experience and experience administering or managing clinical trials, including first in human, phase 1 trials.
- Proficiency in fresh and cryopreserved stem cell administration and reaction management.
- Thorough knowledge of delivering clinical nursing education and training material for orientation andskills / competency learning and leadership development.
- Strong interpersonal skills to provide education, training, and resources, and to develop positive working relationships with nursing staff and leadership.
- Detail oriented, with proven organizational skills to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline.
- Strong skills in written and verbal communications to collaborate productively in a team environment with all levels of internal and external personnel and to convey complex clinical information in a clear, concise manner.
- Thorough knowledge of a broad spectrum of professional nursing practices and issues.
- Thorough knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MSN or higher.
- Experience working with outpatient areas and coordination of care across inpatient and outpatient areas.
- Certificate within area of specialty.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $124,400 - $243,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $59.58 - $116.67
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
