What We Are Looking For:
Woodland Heights Medical Center ICU/SD Department is now hiring a PRN Registered Nurse to work in our thriving 149-bed acute care hospital. The 42-bed unit focuses on post cath, stemi, vascular surgery, open heart surgery, and IABP, with a healthy influx of patients that would traditionally be in a medical ICU (DKA, respiratory failure, GI bleed, post-code, renal failure). Our Registered Nurses integrate standards of care into our daily practice that includes: commitment, effective communication, customer service, responsiveness, sense of ownership and positive attitudes.

Job Duties:
- Evaluating assigned patients and plans, implementing and documenting nursing care.
- Assisting the physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Performing various patient tests and administering medications within the scope of the practice of the RN.
- Promoting patients’ independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients, and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-car skills.
- You will rely on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Also a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Typically you will report to a manager or head of your unit/department.

Which Qualifications Do You Need? In order to set you up for success, you need the basics of…
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- Certified as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
- Also you must have current BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
- One year of medical experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program
- NIHSS (can be completed after hire)
- CPI training or within 6 months of hire – For PRN?
Working Hours:
- 6:00 to 6:00 (12 hour shift for night shift)
- Weekends and Holidays as required
- 2:1 Patient Ratio (ICU), 4:1 (SD)
