NEDHSA is a designated approved National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site. Clinicians who work at NHSC-approved sites are eligible to apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program to pay off student loans.- 2-year Full-Time Clinical Practice: NHSC will pay up to $50,000 for an initial 2 years of full-time clinical practice to clinicians.
- (Full-time clinical practice is defined as no less than 40 hours per week, for a minimum of 45 weeks per year).

FUNCTION OF WORK:
To provide psychiatric behavioral health services to consumers of Northeast Delta Human Services Authority (NEDHSA), providing primary behavioral health care, treating co-occurring psychiatric and addictive disorders, effectively determining if hospitalization is warranted, and/or assisting in developing treatment alternatives . Certification as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is required and must be maintained.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Functional over professional, paraprofessional, and non-professional nursing personnel.

Examine, diagnose and treat behavioral health problems of clients of NEDHSA. Clients include children adolescents, and adults with addictive, mental or emotional disorders. Participates in the evaluation and disposition of clients in psychiatric/addictive crises. Performs psychiatric evaluations on new and existing clients and prescribes treatment and/or medications. Reviews nursing assessments and evaluates/refers clients in need of medical treatment or other psychosocial services Participates in evidence-based practices.
Serves as treatment team leader for assigned staff in the clinic to which the incumbent is assigned, Primarily responsible for coordination of treatment planning for clients assigned to clinicians on their treatment team. Approves necessary changes in treatment plans and signs off on revised plans. Provides direction and leadership during team staffing meeting. Identifies areas of weakness in team knowledge base and takes measures needed to assure the growth of team skills in planning and providing mental health care services, Provides consultation to team clinicians in ongoing care of clients when problem areas are identified. Provides medication management to clients when indicated. Responsible for all medication orders for clients on his/her team.
Provides consultation on clients presenting for screening/access services when they are referred for care in a clinic. Provides consultation to other clinicians in absence of their treatment team physician. Orders and reviews necessary laboratory testing, EKG's, psychological testing, and other specialized testing as appropriate. provides thorough, legible documentation in the chart, either written, typed or through dictation, of all direct and indirect contacts with clients, through progress notes and psychiatirc evaluations. Responsible for documentation of all direct care services in electronic health record (ICANotes). Communicates and corresponds with relatives of clients as well as other treating professionals and consulting agencies with regard to coordinating care.
May attend staffings or meetings with other agencies involved in care of clients, e.g. home health agencies, case management agencies. Participates in administrative duties as assigned, i.e,,Utilization Management an P&t Committee activities. Attends meetings inside and outside of the clinic for purposes of continuing medical education as well as coordination of efforts; i.e., Staff education Training, General Staff Meetings, Physicians Meeting, May attend other educational trainings held at the center or off-site. Responds to telephone calls as well as correspondence when requested by clients of the behavioral health center. Assists with efforts to provide medications for indigent clients through use of patient assistance programs, samples and vouchers.
Provides documentation to pharmaceutical companies of medication orders for patient assistance. Orders referrals to home health agencies when appropriate. Responsible for ongoing review of those orders and communication with home health agency as indicated. Performs court-ordered independent psychiatric evaluation of clients in facilities and appears in court as a witness when subpoenaed.
Meets and confers with Departments of Psychiatry and Family Practice in their community behavioral health center rotations. Meets with pharmaceutical companies company representatives fot purposes of drug education as well as obtaining samples and vouchers for individuals. Performs other psychiatric evaluations as requested.
Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure smooth operations of the clinic
Maybe required to serve on after-hours rotation for NEDHSA's on-call crisis services as deemed necessary.
Maybe assigned duties associated with disaster/emergency preparedness such as the Medical Special Needs Shelter (MSNS), Command Center, Continuity of operations (COOP), etc., as deemed necessary
Adheres to NEDHSA policies and procedures, Civil Service Rules, CARF standards, and the legal and ethical standards of the licensing board of the profession practiced.
