Registered Nurse – Geropsyche (GPU)

Who We Are:

GPU is our 29-bed Geropsychiatric Unit. Elliot Behavioral Health Services is staffed by a team of mental health professionals who tailor both evaluation and treatment services to each individual patient. These patients are ages 65+ with cognitive and impairment and psychiatric illness. There are typically 80 employees on during a shift with nurse-to-patient and LNA ratios of 1:5 (days/eves) and 1:6 (nights). Our state-of-the-art units provide a wide array of equipment and patient acuity depending on a nurse’s professional interests, certifications, and experience level.

About the Job:

The Registered Nurse on Geropsyche delivers care for patients with acute and chronic psychiatric disorders. This includes de-escalation and crisis management under the supervision of providers. Also, creates a therapeutic and caring environment for patient and families.

What You’ll Do:

Embraces and promotes change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment.
Involves patient/family in goal setting and planning, and communicates that plan of care to patient and family for input; and to colleagues to ensure seamless care across shifts and settings.
Utilizes current evidence and relevant national/specialty standards to guide practice and/or performance and identifies areas for improvement.
Demonstrates competent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making and critical thinking skills.

Who You Are:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ASN or BSN – BSN preferred)
Current New Hampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as Registered Nurse required
Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment – ACLS preferred
Aggression de-escalation training approved by EHS
