Director of Clinical Education (RN)

Position Overview:

Position is responsible for leading, supporting and mentoring clinical staff at iCare managed facilities in order to ensure the delivery of high quality resident care consistent witih iCare stated values.As an integral member of the clinical/operations leadership team the individual in this position will assist the facility leadership in achieving and maintaining clinical excellence, delivering and documenting exceptional care to a diverse population of residents, ensuring positive clinical outcomes and maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.A critical member of the leadership team and a support for facility leadership and staff, this individual leads by example through engagement of a competent and diverse workforce.

Respobsibilities:

1) Infection Prevention and Control

Ensures that the iCare Infection Prevention Program is current, compliant with regulations and consistent with established best practice.

Reviews the Infection Prevention Program annually, updating as needed and ensuring that all staff are educated annually and as needed.

Oversees and supports the Infection Preventionist in the facilities.

Acts as a resource for the IP in the facilities and for all clinical staff with regards to infection prevention and control.

Acts as a resource for the IP in the facilities and for all clinical staff with regards to wound management.

Organizes and implements the annual flu program in collaboration with the facility IPs.

Organizes and implements initial and annual fit testing with the facility IPs.

Ensures that facilities are in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, state and federal regulations.

Reviews and revises, annually and as necessary, the Respiratory Protection Program.

Oversees wound management in the facilities with the goal of achieving optimal outcomes in all aspects of wound care.

Ensures that wound policies and procedures are consistent with NPUAP standards.

Collaborates with the DNS and Administrator in the annual and ongoing evaluation of the Infection Preventionist.

Directs and supports facility IPs in the delivery of required education to staff.

2) Staff Developoment

Responsible for ensuring that onboarding and orientation of clinical staff is consistent with regulations.

Oversees and organizes the orientation of clinical staff in collaboration with the facility PDC

Ensures that all facilities are providing up to date, relevant education to staff and maintaining compliance with content and hours per state and CMS requirements

Ensures that annual IV certification is provided to facility staff.

Oversees the provision of CPR certification courses as required by policy

Trains and supports care centers in the implementation of the EMR.

Reviews facility documentation practices to ensure effective and appropriate utilization of the EMR; Creates processes within the EHR to optimize consistent, compliant documentation practices.

Qualifications:

Active, unencumbered CT RN license

Demonstrated experience in adult learning principles.

Demonstrated experience in Infection Prevention and Control.

Demonstrated experience in state survey process, survey tag numbers along with scope and severity, and quality measures.

Demonstrated experience in clinical standards and guidelines.

Experience in CQI process.

At least 5 years progressive responsibility in long term care.

Prior Infection Prevention and Education experience, required,
