Position Description:

The Trauma Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Doctors Hospital of Augusta and Trauma Services. In collaboration with the patient, the patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the trauma nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates treatment plans. Demonstrates strong trauma clinical assessment, nursing intervention, and strong communication/leadership skills

Responsibilities include, although are not limited to:

1. Response to trauma bays

2. Responsible for trauma bay readiness

3. Coordinatesand triages incoming trauma patients

4. Reviews/evaluates all activations for triage level appropriateness

5. Evaluates levellllconsultations

6.Managescare with primary trauma surgeon

7. Responsible for documentation compliance

8. Responds to in-house traumapatientscritical needs

9.Facilitatespsychosocialsupport

10. Assists withtraining and in-servicing needs

11.Participate induties assigned by the director of trauma services

What qualifications you will need:

Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Registered Nurse
Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
