The St. Louis Children's Heart Station is a premier cardiovascular care unit embedded within the renowned St. Louis Children's Hospital. Our clinic boasts a highly skilled team consisting of 8 physicians, 10 Pediatric Cardiac Sonographers, 2 patient service representatives, 2 medical assistants, and 2 exercise physiologists. This multidisciplinary team is dedicated to providing top-tier cardiac testing and care for a diverse patient population.
Our team is composed of highly specialized professionals who collaborate seamlessly to deliver exceptional patient care. With a mix of experienced physicians, skilled cardiac sonographers, dedicated patient service representatives, medical assistants, and exercise physiologists, the team fosters a dynamic and supportive environment. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues across various disciplines to ensure comprehensive and efficient cardiac care.
A typical day in the Staff Nurse role at the St. Louis Children's Heart Station is both dynamic and rewarding. The primary responsibility involves supporting a robust cardiac testing enterprise that processes over 30,000 tests annually. The Staff Nurse will interact with families to provide education and follow-up on recommended cardiac monitoring, ensuring that patients and their families understand the procedures and their importance. The role also includes coordinating with inpatient units at St. Louis Children's Hospital to advise on the timing and logistics of cardiac testing. Additionally, the Staff Nurse is responsible for streamlining the cardiac testing process to make it as smooth and efficient as possible for patients and their families, contributing to an overall positive experience.

Clinical knowledge and a strong understanding of cardiac conditions and testing procedures are essential. Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care.
- Provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.Will performinpatient and outpatientEKGs when other staff are unavailable.
- Provides appropriate counsel and education to patients/families regarding disease process and symptom management.
- Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information.
- Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Provides phone triage for the cardiac testing unit otherwise known as the Heart Stationinside St. Louis Children's Hospital.
- Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in educational programs, staff meetings and in services such as CPR as required.
- Oversees the placement, tracking and distribution of Cardiac monitors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
$56,200.00 - $96,100.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
