Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:The Surgical Technologists are individuals with specialized education who function asmembers of the surgical team in the role of scrub person. Surgical Technology Programs are accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee onEducation in Surgical Technology—a collaborative effort of the Association of SurgicalTechnologists and the American College of Surgeons, under the auspices of theCommission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Accreditedprograms provide both didactic education and supervised clinical experience based on acore curriculum for surgical technology.Typical duties may include:
- You will assemble supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
- You will prepare sterile instrument table for your procedures.
- You will assist in positioning patients and preparing patient’s skin for surgery.
- You will maintain sterile techniques and actively monitor situations that could lead to breaches in sterile technique.
- During procedures, you will assist the surgical team. This may include passing instruments, sponges and sutures.
- During procedures you will also assist in the monitoring the patient.
- After the procedure, you will gather equipment for cleaning and sterilization.
What you will need:
- High School Degree or equivalent
- Applicable experience may substitute for education
- Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology preferred. Accredited programs may be offered in community and junior colleges, vocational and technical schools, the military, universities, and structured hospital programs in surgical technology.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification required at hire*
- Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
- Instructor certifications interchangeable with required certifications
- Experience preferred.

Other services that we offer include orthopedic care and joint replacement, robotic surgery, cardiac, vascular, and interventional services. We are home to the only Pediatric ER in the community. We have the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the region. Together, we continue to raise the bar in healthcare.
