Brief Description

MAIN FUNCTION:

Under direction from the Director of Clinical Services, assists with coordination of clinical and clerical related services for a regional group of physician offices. Duties will include training and supervision of new personnel, assisting with policy and procedure development, implementation, and review and facilitating inter-office, inter-departmental communication.

Duties And Responsibilities

Nursing

Demonstrates clinical expertise in office nursing and maintains competent knowledge of practice operations for a regional group of outpatient offices.

Administrative

Assertively manages the transition toward a less labor intensive, more flexible and more economical staffing pattern.
Assists Director of Clinical Services with supervision and preparation of performance evaluations for nursing and clerical staff in these outpatient offices.
Interviews prospective outpatient office staff and provides recommendations to the Director of Clinical Services.
Assists Director of Clinical Services in decision making, problem resolution, and management planning including establishment of standard nursing protocols, risk management strategies and implementation of accreditation efforts.
Maintains a basic knowledge of the various electronic record systems and assists with trouble shooting of issues and training of new staff.

Clinical

Will remain competent in all aspects of office nursing and will function in this role if there is a staffing need.
Shall be competent in medication administration – oral and injectable
Performs laboratory procedures including venipunctures.
Maintains competency in general office procedures (example - EKG, PFS, aseptic technique)
Maintains basic knowledge of coding and billing processes
Schedules follow up visits, consultations, referred testing. Obtains per-certifications as necessary

Staffing

Assists Director Of Clinical Services With

Coordinates and assigns duties to clinical and clerical staff in the outpatient offices. Evaluates staffing needs, daily fluctuations and makes appropriate assignments of personnel to insure efficient office operation.
Orients and instructs office personnel regarding policies, protocols and techniques.
Determines personnel needs, develops job descriptions, evaluates and disciplines staff in the division in accordance with Medical Center policies.
Mediates and resolves problems for physicians, patients and staff.
Schedules and conducts nursing staff meetings as needed.

Communication

Demonstrates effective communication skills with staff, physicians and AOMC Departments
Communicates and problem-solves issues arising within the department and issues affecting other departments. Involves Director of Clinical Services when necessary to assist with resolution.

Regulatory/Policy

Assures compliance with all relevant Federal, State and Professional laws, regulations and guidelines.
Assures that departmental personnel conform with the Medical Center and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations, and maintains adequate records regarding personnel matters.
Maintains a basic knowledge of accreditation practices and facilitates compliance with the various standards.

Other

Demonstrates awareness of self-learning needs and seeks ways to meet these in order to maintain current competency and respond to new clinical and managerial demands.
Is responsible for attending annual mandatory educational programs as required by the position.
Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer’s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with Arnot Health.

Education

EDUCATION:

Current NYS LPN Licensure.

Experience

LPN with at least 5 years of experience physician practice setting preferred. Previous management experience preferred.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (cpr) Requirements

Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date.

Special Demands

May require working in excess of 40 hours per week and during hours outside of the normal working schedule. Routine travel to multiple physician offices will be required.
