SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for initiatives, optimizing workflows and the Epic system, and collaborating with clinicians to understand need and implement solutions. This role requires onsite presence for rounding on a regular basis with the Super Users.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
- Voice of operations. Gather and provide information from the Superusers. Coach and mentor the Superusers.
- Be at the forefront for clinical operational readiness.
- Prepare the Superusers for change.
- Facilitate workflow discussions to determine the best way to translate them electronically.
- Workflow discussions include thinking about the big picture to understand steps both in and out of applications.
- Utilize best practices and standard workflows in the application.
- Eliminate clinical errors by making the right thing easy for end users to do.
- Form processes that are easy to replicate and intuitive, so that end users require minimal education to complete them successfully.
- Drive standardization across the health system.
- Facilitate change and participate in change management.
- Prioritize and address stakeholder needs, ensuring that informatics solutions align with both clinical requirements and organizational objectives.
- Focus efforts maximizing the quality improvements in patient care, performance, documentation, and communication.
- Work toward improvements by educating Superusers, and other roles that utilize Epic.
- Focus on operational process improvements, such as throughput, research, and billing.
- Investigate risks stemming from the Epic implementation, and participate in Risk, Quality, and Safety meetings.
- Assist in service recovery when the problems stem from technical -related complaints.
- Facilitate conversations and developing designs for clinical content.
- Validate clinical content, starting with the content and workflows.
- During the build of Epic, attend regularly scheduled meetings with clinical project teams and be available for questions through office hours.
- Participate in all clinical operational readiness activities.
- Perform testing that includes end-user participation, such as clinical validation for data conversions
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- BSN degree required
- Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact
- Board Certification in Nursing Informatics required within four (4) years of hire
- Four (4) years of Nursing experience two (2) years of informatics experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
- Experience and knowledge of implementing a change to operational teams, experience of teaching and training end-users.
- Understanding how to do assessment, trouble shooting, analyzing workflows and optimizing technology in clinical workflow.
- Epic certification or accreditation preferred. If not certified or accredited, must complete Epic certification or accreditation as assigned in related application within 6 weeks after last training class.
