Corewell Health is proud to offer a weekend only program for RN's!

RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour on top of their base pay
RN's will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year - allowing 4 weekends (or 8 shifts) “off”
RNs will be required to use available PTO for the 4 weekends (or 8 shifts) they are not scheduled
These shifts would be approved in accordance with unit guidelines with allotted PTO as well as peak times, etc.
RNs may request 1 holiday off per calendar year that falls on the weekend – this would count toward one of their 8 shifts “off”
The RN would only work the holiday if it fell on the weekend, they will not be moved off a weekend to work on a holiday.
Weekends are defined as Saturday and Sunday for day shift (7:00am-7:00pm) and Friday and Saturday night for night shift (7:00pm-7:00am)

About the unit

The Helen DeVos Children's Surgery department completes over 8000 cases per year. It has 8 operating rooms including one with a fully integrated MRI suite. HDVCH surgery is verified as a Level 1 Children's Surgery site through the American College of Surgeons. Our unit is staffed 24/7 with a team of RNs and Surgical Technologists. Our physician teams consist of all pediatric certified Surgeons and Anesthesiologists. Helen DeVos OR supports a large variety of specialties including ENT, General, Urology, Robotics, Plastics, Ortho/Ortho Spine, Cardiac, Dental, Burn, Ophthalmology, and Neurosurgery.

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

Associates in Nursing Required
Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) -AHA American Heart Association Preferred with 1 year of hire
6+ months of experience as an inpatient RN Preferred
OR experience preferred
