Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Population Specific Criteria.
- Demonstrates ability to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs.
Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the patient's needs.
- Includes data from the patient/significant other(s) in the assessment as appropriate.
- Prioritizes data collection according to patient's immediate needs.
- Patient evaluations/assessment/medications/lab work.
- Performs and documents Medication Reconciliation.
- Verifies patient identification.
- Perform initial assessment of patient.
- Perform an on-going assessment of patient during procedure.
- Report accurate/appropriate information to pertinent departments/personnel.
Develops/reviews/revises and individualizes the plan of care to address the patient's nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcomes. (Consultation and resources, nurses as teachers.)
- Collaborates with providers and other clinical disciplines as appropriate.
- Provides teaching specific to the patient.
- Care plan reflects continuing care needs and/or referrals.
- Smart Growth - Provides care for the optimal patient experience.
- Facilitates access to Methodist Hospital services including program referrals and information by use of a computer based scheduling system or telephonic communication to meet the customer's needs.
- Performs multi-resource appointment scheduling for Interventional Radiology utilizing the computer based scheduling system to meet customer satisfaction.
- Collaborates with physician office staff and diagnostic departments to determine appropriate indications, patient instructions, and education are given for proper patient preparation and understanding of scheduled test/procedure by using clear communication skills.
- Gives full attention to what other people are saying, asking questions as appropriate to understand any points being made.
- Serves as a liaison between physicians, physician's office staff and the hospital by coordinating resource appointment scheduling for patient satisfaction.
- Facilitates physician verbal or faxed orders to initiate patient services.
- Pre-registers patients.
- Contacts patients and/or Medical Doctor (MD) office staff to rebook patients that need rescheduling to facilitate patient care.
Implements interventions that are consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner (Professional Models of Care).
- Is familiar with, and follows, nursing protocols and standards of care.

- Schedules in accordance with Interventional Radiology (IR)'S scheduling policy :i.e. room time/ correct imaging guidance/outpatient /Am admit.

- Communicates to appropriate personnel regarding unresolved issues.
- Works within the scope of practice as defined by Nurse Practice Act.
- Ensures all patients are scheduled under the correct episode, pre-op orders are in Cerner in a planned stated and all lab values are appropriate for Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures.

- Acts professionally responsible for human and other resources.
- Charges accurately for use of supplies and equipment according to policy.

Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required.
- Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements.
Experience
- Keyboard skills with experience on computer required.
License/Certifications
- Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multi-state license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required for work state.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
- Certification(s) in area of specialty preferred.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred

- Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients, family members, hospital personnel, and co-workers.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
