Responsibilities

Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations (ANA, 2010).

Garnet Health Medical Center clinical nurses are guided by the New York State Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) guide to the Code of Ethics for Nurses, the Essential Guide to Nursing Practice, Jean Watson’s Nursing Philosophy and Science of Caring, the Garnet Health Medical Center Plan for Nursing Quality and Safety, and the Garnet Health Medical Center Nursing Strategic Plan (NSP). Clinical nurses are empowered to work toward an improved healthcare system by providing safe, timely, effective, equitable, and patient centered care (IOM).

The compensation range for the role is $52.82 - $58.72 hourly

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

Qualifications

Licensure: Active New York State Nursing License in Good Standing; GHMC abides with the New York Department of Education Nursing Licensure Board recommendation on the 16 hour work limit.

Education: Associate, Baccalaureate (preferred), Master's, or Doctorate Degree in Nursing from an Accredited School of Nursing.

Department Critical Care Float Pool (6028)

Floats to ICU’s, SDU, PCU, CDA, 2West-Incumbents previously trained within the ED will continue to float to the ED as needed)

Required Experience

1 year Critical Care.

When offered, eligible candidates for the GHMC ICU Orientation Program are required to have either 2 years Medical-Surgical OR 1 year Medical-Telemetry/Progressive Care.

PALS required within 6 months (10/26/2016); hired before 11/2016 will have 1 year to obtain PALS

MERT Training within 6 months of hire or transfer

CRRT Training within 1 year of hire or transfer

TNCC required within 1 year for all new hires and transfers;
